About this work

Description

"Who cares. The title of this anthology is a rhetorical device intended to signal something of the societal ambivalence surrounding paid and unpaid care work. Who cares. But we also mean it in the spirit of inquiry, one spurred by that same ambivalence and the silence that surrounds it. For who actually are the carers that spend their days quietly, dilligently, repetitively, attending to the most basic needs of those, who, in their dependency, failing health, or old age would otherwise see their dignity and welfare diminished. What are their lives like? And how do they feel about what they must do each day, whether they are paid or not, whether by choice or by circumstance?" -- From publisher's website.
