About this work

Description

Digital illustration showing viruses being transported in the blood stream. Viraemia is the condition where viruses enter the bloodstream and have access to the rest of the body. Primary viraemia refers to the initial spread of the virus in the blood from the first site of infection, and secondary viraemia occurs when primary viremia has resulted in the infection of additional tissues, in which the virus has replicated and once more entered the circulation.
