    TRANSLATOR'S PREFACE It is not necessary to say anything by way of introduction of Dr. E. J. Moure to the medical profession of this country. He is well known by his writings in the field of medicine he has made his own. His work, however, on ' Diseases of the Pharynx and Larynx ' is not so familiar to British readers as it is on the Continent ; hence the appearance of the present translation. It has been the endeavour of the translator in making the abridgment to omit no essentials, and to follow the author's language as closely as possible, and he has refrained from any alteration of the author's style and from any comment on his opinions. He trusts the volume may be of use as a small manual to young practitioners and senior students. Edinburgh, 1909.
