Description
In the right foreground, a man and two women play the flute, the tambourine and a pipe while their goats graze on the bank of a river; other goatherds are seen beyond. Deer are grazing in a wood on the other bank (left). The river descends a series of three gentle cascades. In the left background are an ancient temple, a castle, and other buildings. Right, a distant prospect based on the Roman Campagna
