About this work

Description

This very informative programme looks at how meningococcal bacteria, entering the bloodstream of a child, can kill in a matter of hours. We explore how the bacteria works from a number of perspectives. Experts describe (accompanied by animated graphics) how the virus works and how best we can attempt to conquer it. Alongside this information are woven the stories of families whose children have been affected by meningococcal bacteria - a number of cases in hospital we are given quite detailed access to. Finally we also hear from the healthcare professionals who deal with paediatric and juvenile meningococcal infections.
