Notes

Title from cover.
"Guilt and phobia are my unspoken pains; being a parent and being a special needs parent and being a parent of a child with hidden disabilities (he's not in a wheelchair and initially appears to have a normal range of behavior). As a father, I'm always phobic about how people will react to me, I could never give comfort to a stranger's child for fear of reprisal or for fear of simply scaring that parent; will they perceive me as a threat (more common than you'd think, taking a photo of my young daughters in the park is always met with a least one untrusting stare). So I guess that's a long and poetic way of syaing I'm ill prepared to cope as the father of a teenager with special needs."--From author.
