About this work

Description

Prof. Terry Hamblin, leukaemia specialist, defends the use of laboratory animals in medical research. He points to some of medicine's great achievements - anaesthetics, blood transfusion, heart transplants and asthma drugs - which could not have come about without the use of animals. He claims that the Animal Rights movement makes misleading claims which give cloud the issue with fear and suspicion. He explains why it is necessary to use animals and gives some examples of the research for which they are essential and the ways in which they are used.
