About this work

Description

A strand of hair from an afro-Carribbean individual. The strand of hair has an 'S' shaped curve, which gives it it's characteristic curl. The external layer of the hair shown here is the cuticle, which contains layers of overlapping cells to protect the lower layers ( the cortex and medulla).
