Lettering

Amateur surgery: an incident on board a trading schooner. ... Drawn by F. Brangwyn. Lettering continues: "The absence of a doctor on board the smaller trading vessels often proves the one touch of nature that makes even a mixed crew akin. A negro sailor falls from the rigging with a crash upon the deck. His head, proverbially hard, is only bruised, but his leg is broken, and his white shipmates do all in their power to make temporary splints, which will do duty until the leg can be properly set at the next port."
