A man with a pinched face, supposed to be Woodville but unlike his other portrayals, sits on a rock under a tree, with an open book in one hand and a herd of cows with a milkmaid in the background, an allusion to his treatise on vaccination which was translated into French in 1800

Lettering

W. Woodwille, Méd.in. de l'Hôpital des Inoculés à Londres. Au mois de Thermidor de l'an VIII, ce médecin estimable fit un voyage à Paris pour le seul plaisir d'y apporter la vaccine, c'est à celle demarche bienveillante et desintéressée que la France doit, de jouir aujourd'hui, de cette heureuse découverte. (Hist. de la vaccine par Colon). Ce portrait est offert à la reconnoissance de tous les Français. Dien scr. Ansiau delt. Perrot sculp.
