About this work

Description

Coinciding with the goverment campaign to promote MMR vaccination for more than one million children, the findings of Dr. Andy Wakefield (Royal Free Hospital) have fuelled a counter-movement. Dr. Wakefield believes that the MMR vaccine could cause Crohn's disease in one in every hundred children receiving it. Set against this is the risk of severe effects from measles, including reduced life expectancy. Dr. Wakefield's findings are not supported by medical profession. However, his claim means that parents now have an even more difficult decision to make over the vaccination of their children.
