Biographical note

Home, Sir Everard (1756-1832) was a first baronet and surgeon, born in Hull, Yorkshire. He became a surgical pupil of his brother-in-law John Hunter (1728-1793), surgeon at St. George's Hospital, London. Home drew heavily on Hunter's work in the papers and books, which he published after Hunter's death. Home often published Hunter's observations as his own and the full extent of his plagiarism has not been established. Home died in 1832. A full description of his life and work is to be found in the Dictionary of National Biography.
