Description
Article about a physician from Hazlebury near Sturminster whose cure for scrofula or King's Evil involved tying a bag containing a toad's legs around the neck of a patient 24 hours before the first new moon in May, saying a 'verbal charm' and giving the patient a lotion and salve. The article also talks about the stone in the toad's head, or Bufonian jewel and how to obtain one by putting a toad's head into an ant hill for 12 days.
