    cient body of evidence to shew, that there are no solid grounds for believing, that the order of nature is subverted in the person of Ann Moore; but, on the contrary, that there is every reason to consider her abstinence as feigned, and to denounce her as an artful impostor. That she may be partially diseased, and that she may subsist on small quantities of food, I will not venture to deny: but that she does eat, and drink, and sleep, will, I imagine, be allowed by all who peruse the foregoing statement; and, indeed, must be apparent to every per- son of common discernment who wit- nesses her present condition. With respect to the various hypotheses, which have been advanced by the nar- rators of her case, to explain how she might be supported without any of the ordinary means of nutrition, I am per- suaded, that my readers will agree with me in thinking, that it would be an idle waste of time to enter into a refutation of
