About this work

Description

Molecular model from X-ray diffraction data (PDB ID: 1vsz and 1qiu) of a single adenovirus particle. Adenoviruses are DNA-containing viruses that cause mild infections of the airways and intestines in humans and animals. Symptoms are often similar to the common cold and include sore throat, sneezing, headache, cough and fever. Adenovirus infections can also lead to bronchitis, pneumonia, diarrhoea and pink eye (conjunctivitis). Modified forms of the virus are being developed to treat genetic diseases, fight cancer, and deliver vaccines. Width of image is approximately 113 nm.
