    Abergavenny, Joint Counties' Asylum, Jany. gth, 1873. Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen,— Regarding these reports simply as an annual record of the Chaplain’s performance of his duties, and not as containing any new facts or comments worthy of publication, I beg to state that during the past year the Chapel Service has been performed once daily on week-days, and twice on a Sunday, except when, for a few weeks in the summer, leave was obtained to have the service held on Wednesday and Friday only, and once on a Sunday. The wards have been periodically visited, and at¬ tention bestowed on those Patients who seemed particularly to need it, and to derive benefit from it. The Holy Communion has been administered four times during the year. In many Asylums it is administered more frequently, and I have seldom detected any reason why, in this respect, any
