About this work

Description

Below, four female figures in marble representing virtues, and in the centre foreground a bronze figure of Death holding an hourglass. Fabio Chigi was elected Pope in 1655. The tomb, in the south transept of St Peter's Basilica, was designed by Bernini and executed between 1671 and 1678
