The only painting of Susanna and the elders by Mola recorded by Cocke is a lost work, Cocke's no. L41, which was in the Quiryn van Biesum sale, Rotterdam, 18 October 1719, no. 17, but that work was (marginally) vertical ("h. 1v. 5d. br. 1v. 2d."), whereas the present work is in horizontal format
