Description
Some letters and papers of Dominique François Arago, mainly relating to his work for the Bureau des Longitudes and his post as secrétaire perpétuel de l'Académie des Sciences, Paris. The correspondents include Albin Reine Roussin (1781-1854) Baron Roussin, Hyacinthe de Bougainville (1781-1846) Baron de Bougainville, on thunder at sea, Jean Jacques Antoine Ampère (1800-1864), and Joseph Lakanel (1762-1845) on his residence in the United States. Other papers comprise memoranda on astronomy, geodesy and meteorology, and draft letters to the Press on political matters. With an internal passport, 1843.

Most of the letters and papers were purchased from Degrange, Paris, between 1930 and 1936.
