About this work

Description

The Tsetse Trap (10 mins. item) Reports on a project to open up tsetse-fly infested grazing land in Kenya to Masai farmers by the strategic placing of flytraps. About 10 million square kilometres of land are involved and it is hoped that the traps will constitute an environmentally sound and affordable means of control. The mechanism of the traps is explained in detail. The farmers were initially sceptical but so far, 2 traps to 1 sq. kilometre have reduced infestation by 99% over 500 sq. kilometres of grazing land.
