Description

A woman designated as Lucrezia Crivelli, mistress of Ludovico Sforza, il Moro, Duke of Milan. Half-length directed to left, facing front, with a mount printed in black, green and grey imitating a traditional watercolour mount for a drawing. The lettering does not include the phrase "La belle ferronnière", although that sobriquet was in use at the time.
