    awakens vital energy. A diet evolution should be prescribed and the following formula given to it : Fruitarian in the morning, mixed at noon, and vegetarian in the eve^iing. In Germany the importance of a food hygiene has been recognised in thermal re- sorts by the providing of tables for special diets. A special diet and atmospheric treat- ment are strongly to be recommended, and our own doctors might well pay greater attention to these points. In hydropathic establishments especially should air and diet go hand in hand. It is through the stomach, or in other terms, by diet, as Leven says, that nervous centres can best be treated, and it is through the skin, that is by means of the air cure, with its restorative and hardening effects, that the bowels are pre- vented from becoming congested and the functions of the emunctory organs regulated. If the fitness of grouping together these different branches of therapeutics be a matter of discussion as regards thermal resorts, there can be no doubt as to its advisability in the case of hydropathic establishments and sanatoria.
