Military surgeon’s hat, France, 1830-1880
- Science Museum, London
About this work
Worn by a military surgeon, this cocked hat is made from beaver skin and lined with silk. Part of a colourful uniform with plenty of braid, buttons and buckles, it would have become terribly unhygienic over the course of a military campaign. maker: Flach Place made: Strasbourg, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France
