Prompted by the political situation in Greece, Nature published, between September and November, 1969, letters discussing the wisdom and propriety of holding scientific meetings in countries with regimes which are oppressive. A joint letter on the subject, from Crick, Kendrew, Perutz and Sanger was published under the heading "International Conferences" in Nature, 224 (1969), 93-4.

The file comprises drafts of their joint letter (holograph and typescript), as well as a typescript of a previous letter on the situation in Greece, published in Nature, 223 (1969), 1186, signed by "a group of non-Greek scientists of the Fourth NATO Advanced Study Institute of Molecular Biology, held in July 1969 in Spetsai, Greece" (Crick was not a signatory).
The file also includes pages photocopied from Nature of the letters as published, and a copy of "Faut-il boycotter les réunions scientifiques en Grèce?" (Edité par le Comité Européen des Universitaires pour la Défense de la Démocratie en Grèce: Paris, juin 1969).
