Description

This print probably represents the competition-winning design made by Inman in 1821. A cheaper, less elaborate version was completed two years later. It was used for other purposes in this century, and largely demolished in 1977

Lettering

London Orphan Asylum On the reverse of the print is part of a notice soliciting further subscriptions to the building fund. At the time of printing only (pounds) 6,000 had been raised, but costs were estimated at (pounds) 15,000. Part of the list of subscribers is also visible
