The Minister of Health consented to the addition of one year to the period of Miss Cheshire’s service for the purpose of com¬ puting* the amount of superannuation allowance to be awarded to her. The Minister of Labour issued a renewed Certificate under Part II. (d) of the First Schedule to the Unemploy¬ ment Insurance Act, 1920 (as amended), excepting from the provisions of that Act those permanent employees at the two Mental Hospitals liable to be insured who had com¬ pleted or may hereafter complete three years' permanent service and in respect of whom contributions are payable under the Asylums Officers’ Superannuation Act, 1909. The Certificate will cease to have effect on and after the 4th July, 1927. The Committee have adopted certain regulations for the purpose of bringing* pressure to bear on attendants and nurses to qualify for the Certificate of the Medico-Psycho¬ logical Association. During the past year the Minister of Agriculture has issued Orders for the redemption of tithe rent charge on part of the Brookwood Mental Hospital Estate, the redemp¬ tion being by way of annuity spread over a period of thirty years. Half-yearly instalments of the annuity are being paid out of the Hospital Maintenance Account and re¬ claimed from the County Council. The rate charged to the various Boards of Guardians for the maintenance of Ordinary Patients was reduced from 21s. to 18s. Id. per week on the 1st April, 1923, at which figure it stands at the date of this Pepoif. The following is a record of attendances of members for th e year: —
