There>are few books that have been so frequently quoted, yet scarcely seen, as the present Chronicle. The possession of it is indeed essential to a Library (Earl Spencer’s) like the one under description; since there is an important passage in it relating to the Invention of the Art of Printing with metal typeSy and which has been referred to or quoted by Bibliographers for nearly the two last Centuries.” Mr. Dibdin further states, “ The rarity of the Chronicle is sufficiently at- tested by Bibliographers, even without noticing that Harty and Buder, (according to Marchand) who wrote expressly upon German affairs, had no knowledge whatever of it, and Naudens doubts its existence,” The present copy is rendered still more worthy of notice, having belonged to ScRiVERius, and must be the identical one referred to by Maittaire. It not only has tlie Autograph of Scriverius, but his Notes throughout the work. It is a remarkably fine and perfect copy, bound in vellum, with wood cuts, unilluminated. 291 Fasciculus Temporum, Belgice, exceedingly RARE, and a very fine copy^ in vellum , Utrechty by ValdeneVy MCCCCLXXX 292 Hollandsclie Jaarboeken of Rym-Kronyk van Melis Stoke opgehilderd door Cornells van Alkemade, [Dutch Annals or Chronicle, in Verse, by Melis Stoke, from the Year SbS till 1300, elucidated by C. van Alkemade] Leyden, by John du Vivie and Isaak Severinus, 1699, with Portraits of the Dutch Counts, copied from the ancient Paintings at the Carmelites in Harlem, &c. 293 Chronyke van de Hertoghen van Brabant, door Laur. van Haecht Goidtzenhaven, Antwerp, l6l2 [The Chronicle of the Dukes of Brabant, by L. van Haecht Goidtzenhoven] with the Portraits of the Dukes en Costume 294 Cronicke en di Beschryvinge van Vriesland door Ockam Schar- lensen [Chronicle and Description of Friesland, by Ockam Scharlensen, to the year 1565] Printed at Leeuwarden by J.
