    \ l 34 ] fweet or lufcious, and occafionally im¬ prov’d by the Addition of fome grateful Bitter, or mild Aromatick Vegetable; together with the affiftance of brisk Ex- ercife, which greatly promotes the Ope¬ ration of the Medicine, and helps it to fcour the foggy Glands, give a new Spring to the Fibres, open the obftrufted Vef- fels, diflodge the clogging Matter, and throw it off in Perfpiration or a gentle breathing Sweat. Hence a keen Appe¬ tite will arife, fufficient to digeft the Ali¬ ment taken in ; hence pure Blood will be made, and any frefh iupply of Gouty Matter will be feafonably cut off. By this means many Perfons, and fome to my own knowledge, have pre- ferv’d themfelves free from any violent fit of this excruciating Difeafe, tho’ in their Conftitutions they were greatly dif- pofed to it. And in cafe of a fevere attack of this torturing Enemy; when he makes an Jnvalion upon any noble or vital part, what is it can diflodge and drive him to the Frontiers, but generous Wine ? The excellence of our great Cor¬ dial in this cafe isfo generally allow’d and approv’d, that ’tis now the common me¬ thod to ufe it with a laudable Freedom herein ; and fometimes to call in the affiftance of its more powerful Spirit, Brandy, and that with happy Succefs;
