![[ *4 ] ’Twere needlefs to bring other Argu¬ ments in this place, to fhew the fuperior Excellencies of Wine, compared with Water; we fhall fee them fufficiently hereafter, when we come to confider its Ufe in the woril kind of Diflempers, and in the very worft Symptoms and moft dangerous Stages of them; where W a- ter wou’d be highly prejudicial, if not abfolutely deftru&ive. In the mean time, if it will be any Satisfaction to the Admirers of Water, we grant that ’tis to this we owe our Wine, fince Water endowed with mineral Qualities, and circulated thro’ the Vine, is the very. Thing which has extorted thefe juft Commendations from us. Hitherto we have difcourfed of Wine in general, we muft next confider that there are feveral Sorts of it. u drank Water. Bat if Men did eat Acorns in the Infancy of “ the World, why may they not eat them again in the old doting Age: ef of it, as. well as drink Water again ? Old Men are twice Chil- <c dren ; and if this decrepit Age will eat Acorns and drink Water, iC they may he as fat as brute Swine j we know Hogs are. fatted with Acorns and Water. But are not Acorns hard of Concoftion, u and hard to pafs thro'* the Stomach ? Let not that trouble your Confcience ; for as Acorns, fo Water has. the fame Attributes in Galen.
