Description

Chinese triumphal arch with decorations, in honour of H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh's visit in 1869. He was the first member of the British royal family to visit the Crown Colony. To celebrate his short stopover in Hong Kong on his way to India, the streets were filled with festivities and elaborate decorations. Here is Lyndhurst Terrace decorated with a Chinese triumphal arch and other ornaments. On both side of the street are crowds of onlookers and a couple of guards
