Description

Herbert William Townsend Elam, from Willesden, London, served in the Honourable Artillery Company in the South African War (1899-1901), where he was severely wounded. He served as a major in the British Army in World War I. The album contains chromolithographic cut-outs representing decorative, political and sentimental subjects. The cuttings and photographs record Elam's war service in South Africa and his family (presumably) in England. On fol. 25v is the programme for a concert on Hospital Ship Nubia, 26 September 1901
