About this work

Description

Photomacrograph of tubes on a mushroom (unknown species, possibly Boletus bicolor or sensibilis). The genus Boletus contains hundreds of species of mushroom-producing fungi. The tunnel-like structures seen here are spore tubes which are yellow/orange in colour but turn blue/green when cut or bruised. Some members of the Boletus genus are edible.
