    TWENTY-FOURTH ANNUAL REPORT OF THS TRUSTEES OF THE STATE LUNATIC HOSPITAL, AT WORCESTER, 1 8 5 6. To His Excellency Henry J. G-ardner, Governor, and the Honorable Council. The Trustees of the State Lunatic Hospital at Worcester, in compliance with the provisions of law, hereby submit their Twenty-fourth Annual Report. In reviewing the history of this institution for the past year, the Trustees find abundant occasion to reiterate an acknowledge¬ ment of the superintending care of a merciful Providence, and to express their convictions that the institution, as heretofore, has been the means of unspeakable benefit to those unfortunate beings committed to its care. For a particular account of the operations of the hospital for the past year, the number and condition of its patients, and the success which has attended the efforts of its immediate officers and managers, the Trustees refer to the full and minute report of the Superintendent, which is herewith presented. The financial condition of the hospital will be ascertained from the report of the Treasurer, which contains a statement of the receipts and expenditures for the past year.
