Lieferung 1 and 2 were titled: Handwörterbuch der Zoologie und Anthropologie. The work became: Handwörterbuch der Zoologie, Anthropologie und Ethnologie with Lieferung 3.

Issued in paperback parts (Lieferungen) which could then be bound into volumes. It also seems to have been issued in an 8 volume set. Volume title pages appear within the Lieferungen.

Each paperback part (Lieferung) had numbering for its place in Abteilung 1 of the Encyclopædie der Naturwissenschaften (other works were being published at the same time as part of this so these numbers are not sequential). It also had its own numbering which IS sequential. Both are given on the covers.

The first part refers to itself as Lieferung 1 on the cover and Band 1 on the title page.
