    plethoric enlargement : Neris, Bourbon-Lancy, Plombieres, Ussat, Saint- Sauveur, Ems, Schlangenbad, Baden-Baden, Toplitz, Pfeffers. Uterine Complaints.—The: same springs and same therapeutic indi- cations. Sterility.—lis treatment requires the use of different springs, according to the cause producing or maintaining it. No specification. Impotence, Seminal Discharges, Inco7itinence of Urme. — Sulphurous waters, especially Bareges, Luchon, Cauterets, Aix-la-Chapelle, Aix in Savoy ; muriatic waters, such as Balaruc, Bourbonne, Wiesbaden, Ischia ; most femiginous springs ; the alkaline waters of Wildbad and Gastein, or the thermal ferniginous springs of La Malou and Casciana ; sea-baths. IV. Surgical Complaints. Wounds from Fire-Arms, Bo7te Diseases, Caries, Fistula. — Bareges, Bourbonne, Bourbon-l'Archambault, Bagnoles, Balaruc, Saint-Amand, Guagno, Aix in Savoy, Aix-la-Chapelle, Wiesbaden, Toplitz, Gurgi- tello ; baths and douches ; sea-baths. Sprains, False Ankylosis, Consequences of Contusions and Fractures.— The same springs as above, mud-baths, and in general all thermal waters strongly mineralised. V. General Diseases. Skin Diseases, Ulcers.—If the complaint is of long standing and the patient not excitable: Loeche and the sulphur-springs of Bagneres de Luchon, Bareges, Cauterets, Olette, Uriage, Allevard, Enghien, Puzzi- chello, Sehinznach, Aix in Savoy, Lacaille, Saint-Gei^vais, La Poretta,. Viterbe, Aix-la-Chapelle, Baden (Austria). But if there be irritation or great excitability, you will give the preference to Molitg, Saint-Sauveur, Escaldas, and the slightly saline springs of Neris, Ussat, Bigorre, Ems, or Schlangenbad. Syphilitic Diseases, Mercurial Cachexy.—In the first rank Loeche and sulphur-springs, specially Bagneres de Luchon, Bareges, Cauterets, Aix-la- Chapelle, Aix in Savoy, ScMnznach ; the iodine springs of Challes, Krankenheil, and Heilbmnn. Rheumatic Complaints. —All thermal springs may be of use, provided you choose the one most suitable for the greatly varying character of the disease and temperament. Gout. — Sz\s, and Vichy in some cases possess a marked efificacy in the curative treatment of gout; other springs, those of Wiesbaden, Homburg, Kissingen, and Toplitz, act rather by regulating the fits and favouring their manifestation than by attacking the disease itself; Carlsbad and Marienbad possess the property of dissolving tophaceous concretions.
