The whole of the antiphiogiflic regimen muft be adopted in this cafe, and as much of an ered: pof- ture advifed, as the patient can bear without incon- venience. ^ „ An emetic or tvvQ, given at the beginning, will fometimes cut the difeafe ihort. Thefe methods are to be purfu^ as long as the inflammatory fymptoms continue, and muft be pro- portioned to the violence of the difeafe and ftrength of the patient. ■ , If the delirium and coma are urgent, blifters muft be applied to the head and back. ' _ • 'Eryfipelas attacks other parts of the body; in which cafe there, is feldom any danger. It fome- times furrdunds the lower part of the abdomen like a belt, and is then vulgarly called the fhingles. If it appears as a fymptom accompanying putrid < difeafes, which is fometimes the cafe, the above treatment would neceflarily be improper. It fometimes occurs in the face in confequence of' injuries done to the cranium; but as it- is in. this cafe generally under the furgeon’s care, it is unne- ceffary to take farther notice of it here.
