The plates of Eustachius were published for the first time in their entirety by G. M. Lancisi in Rome in 1714 under the title, Tabulae anatomicae. Figure 2, on the right of Diderot's plate X, appears as the central image with four other sections of the brain as plate XVIII in Lancisi's edition
