About this work

Description

A documentary looking at the value of a universal DNA database for solving crimes. Should DNA samples be taken from criminals only or from everybody, even as early as from birth? Police officers talk about the enormous benefits of the DNA database and we follow how DNA tracking led to the discovery of the murderer of 18-year-old Louise Smith in 1999. We also hear about the pitfalls of police relying on DNA evidence. Very rarely some people share the same DNA, DNA can be transfered from person to person and DNA evidence can be deliberately planted to frame someone innocent.
