The first in a three-part series in which philosopher Slavoj Žižek looks at the history of cinema and the ways it both reflects and acts upon some of the structures of our unconscious mind. This part focuses particularly on cinema and desire. Working with an eclectic and extremely compelling selection of movie clips, Žižek speaks from within certain key movie scenes and explains what is potentially going on beyond the cinematic surface.
