Description

Series shows the fortifications at Jalal-Kut, formerly Jalalabad, Afghanistan, during a siege when it was held under the command of Sir Robert Henry Sale [1782-1845]. The damage to the fortifications caused by earthquakes on 19 February 1842 is also shown. Dictionary of National Biography, London 1909, vol. 17, pp. 670-678
