    PREFACE This book is an attempt to collect in one place and in a few words the special anatomy and surgery re- quired by the dental student. It is not intended to replace larger works on anatomy and general and oral surgery, but rather to indicate to the student the subjects that require his particular attention. The thanks of the writer are due to Professor M. H. Cryer for valuable aid and suggestions, and also for the use of several illustrations. My thanks are also due Dr. William Francis Campbell, of Brooklyn, N.
