    was evident that there were fome peculia- rities attending it, and therefore, though preffed to perform the operation of injec- tion, I declined doing it at flrft, and advifed the Ample evacuation, to give me an op- portunity of observing the manner of its re- filing, and alfo of taking it at a more favour- able period, when it fhould not be fo much diftended. Accordingly I let out a conflder- able quantity of a ftraw-coloured fluid, and found the teflis in a good ftate. The next day fome water was palpably colle&ed, and in two days after, there was a conflderable quan- tity—in lefs than a fortnight it was nearly as large as when I let it out. Thefe eircum- ifances being new, and as 1 had not performed it on fo young a perfon, I thought proper to mention them to his friends, and not to give pofitive or even fanguine hopes of fuccefs. When the operation was refolved on, he caught the meafles, which obliged us to defer it.
