The committee appointed by a general meeting of the governors of this charity, for the purpose of raising subscriptions to defray the expence of building a house for the more commodious reception of the governors, their officers, and patients, beg leave to inform those governors, who have not yet subscribed, that this undertaking was not adopted till the great encouragement given to this useful and increasing charity, by a considerable addition of new governors, rendered their present house too small and inconvenient for the purpose above mentioned.

    GENERAL DISPENSARY, Aldersgate-Street, Aug. 19, 1778. T HE Committee appointed by a General Meeting of the Governors of this Charity, for the Purpofe of raifing Subfcriptions to defray the Expence of building a Houfe for the more commodious Reception of the Governors, their Officers, and Patients, beg Leave to inform thofe Governors, who have not yet fubferibed, that this Undertaking was not adopted till the great Encouragement given to this ufeful and increafing Charity, by a confiderable Addition of new Governors, rendered their prefent Houfe too fmall and inconvenient for the Purpofe above mentioned. A more commodious Houfe was fought for, but could not be met with on reafonable Terms : it was therefore refolved, at a General Meeting of the Governors of this Charity on the 9th of April 1777, to engage a Piece of Ground in this Street (formerly the Site of Shaftsbury House) whereon the NEW DISPENSARY is erected, on a Plan which judicioufly unites Simplicity with Convenience. The Expence of this Build¬ ing is reftricted to £2000, whereof Payments to the Amount of £1400 and upwards, have already been made to the Contractor, and further Payments will very foon become due. A large Proportion of this Sum remains yet unfubferibed, and, as Well-wilhers to this ben4|^nt Inftitution, the extenfive Utility of which it is unneceffary to ex¬ plain to fuch^yrave already given it their Support by annual Contributions, we are actuated by the moft diffnterefted Motives to befpeak their kind Attention to the Calls of Humanity by this further Teftimony of their Patronage, in promoting the Eftablifhment of a Charity, which we are fully convinced, from the falutary Effects that appear in the annexed State, has been the Means of diffufing Health and Hap- pinefs among the Sick and Indigent of this populous City.
