About this work

Description

This video details the effects of high level radiation on the body, using Hiroshima as an example, and also low level radiation from sources such as X-rays and normally operational nuclear power plants. Three leading experts, Dr Lauriston Taylor, Dr Michio Kaku, and Dr John Goffan, author, explain with the aid of animation the important physical and biological concepts, including stable and unstable elements, ionising radiation, the half life of radioactive materials, how radiation effects DNA, and how low levels of radiation can be concentrated in the food chain. There are a number of vox pops from concerned members of the public.
