    destitute patients, and in providing materials for others to make up into articles of clothing. The Treasurer, however, ventures to repeat his urgent appeal for additional Annual Subscriptions,—those which have been so far given, though liberal in individual amount, being but few in number; and the Governors have to regret the loss of one of the subscribers by death. He desires, therefore, to express his hope that his colleagues will unite with him in endeavouring, by their personal contributions, and by using their influence with their friends, to raise the income of the Samaritan Fund to an amount more nearly commensurate with the magnitude of the calls upon it, and the importance of the Hospital with which it is connected. It is gratifying to the Treasurer to be able to call at- tention to the fact that the Samaritan Fund boxes, which were put up in the wards of the Hospital for the first time about twelve months ago, have already yielded the sum of £8 8*. lid. Guy's Hospital, 13th January, 1859. Subscriptions and Donations may be paid to Thomas Turner, Esq., the Treasurer of the Hospital; to Dr. Steele, the Superintendent; or to Mu. Mark Shattock, the Clerk and Accountant.
