This additional benefit arises from the provision of Section 20 of the Finance Act, 1922. An annual subscription paid under such a covenant can be treated as a net payment after deduction of Income Tax, and the tax it has borne can be recovered by the Hospital from the Revenue Authorities, thereby increasing the subscription by thirty-three per cent. No legal liability attaches on the subscriber’s estate if he or she should die before the expiry of the seven years. With Income Tax at 4/6 in the pound an Annual Subscription of one guinea becomes £1 7s. Id,, and pro rata. The Secretary will be pleased to send the necessary form of Agreement on request.
