Smith, of Eei- gate, who has carefully examined my manuscripts and the proof sheets. I now submit my work to my professional brethren in the hope that they will judge favorably of my efforts. I am fully sensible of its deKciencies and imperfections. Its preparation has involved much care and labour, and caused me to appreciate the difficulties of the task.
