    was diminution and poor localization of pin-prick over the whole of the right half of the body; vibration, fine touch, and postural sense were also impaired. The sensory defect being more marked towards the peri¬ phery and the hemiplegia involving face and arm more than leg suggested a vascular lesion affecting the cortex. Air Encephalography 14 days, after the accident showed a normal ventricular system; but further examination 6 weeks after the injury showed dilatation of the left lateral ventricle, indicating that cortical atrophy had taken place on the left side.
