About this work

Description

Correspondence and papers, mainly letters from William Budd (1811-1880), MD, FRS, physician to the Bristol Royal Infirmary, to his brothers Richard Budd (1809-1896), FRCP, and George Budd (1808-1882), FRCP, Professor of Medicine at King's College, London.

As well as documenting the progress of the brothers' medical careers, the letters reflect a strong interest in clinical medicine, pathology, chemistry, microscopy and epidemiology, especially with regard to cholera and fever. They also include small sketches of the nervous system (A/12) and of cancer cells (A/29).
