About this work

Description

This fluorescent micrograph shows a transverse section of the chick neural tube. The cells have been stained with BRDU that marks chromatin and shows DNA in the S-phase of the cell cycle. The cells are also stained with Dapi to mark the nuclei, therefore, those cells in the s-phase at the time of labelling appear green. However those cells in blue were not in S-phase at time of labelling. The red marks the microtubules and highlights the cells cytoskeleton and in this image strongly marks the luminal edge of the open neural tube.
